CONVEYOR CHAINS

Versatility, tailor-made.

From A – the automotive industry – to Z – brick manufacturing – KÖBO is one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality conveyor and transport chains.

Industry standards

At KÖBO, this is a matter of course – we stock all conveyor chains in accordance with DIN 8165/8167 and 8168 as individual components. However, our main focus lies on manufacturing conveyor chains to meet individual customer requirements, keeping pace with the latest developments. Working closely with technical universities, our engineers are constantly developing innovative solutions for conveyor chains. In doing so, we benefit from our more than 130 years of experience and our consistent customer focus.

Product examples and innovative solutions

Automotive industry

From bodywork construction through to the paint shop and final assembly: KÖBO develops and manufactures durable, high-performance conveyor and panel bench chains that meet the most stringent requirements of the automotive industry.

Passenger transport industry

KÖBO develops and manufactures state-of-the-art solutions for manufacturers and operators of escalators and moving walkways. Examples include the London Underground, the Paris Metro and the Vienna Metro. Our engineers also regularly work on projects for international airports and public facilities. These include revolving lifts, better known as Paternoster lifts. The relevant design documents date back to the early 20th century.

Bottle cleaning industry

Manufacturers of bottle washing machines rely on conveyor chains from KÖBO. Special chains are required to transport returnable bottles – both glass and PET – as most of these systems operate 24/7. Special surface treatment techniques are used to make them even more durable.

Timber industry

KÖBO develops and manufactures chains for all areas of application within the woodworking industry. These include conveyor chains for transporting round timber or planks, as well as chains for sorting lines and wood chip processing. Taking into account the specific challenges of this demanding market, KÖBO’s engineers also develop tailored and bespoke solutions for your specific conveying requirements.

Paper and pulp industry

Owing to their long service life, KÖBO conveyor chains are increasingly being used in the pulping of timber logs for pulp production, as well as in the handling and transport of paper rolls weighing several tonnes. Roller chains, such as the high-performance KÖBO precision roller chain, are also used for gripper transport in sheet-fed offset printing presses for medium and large formats.

Bulk goods industry

The materials used to manufacture our chains for the bulk materials industry are optimally adapted to the specific material being conveyed, such as clinker dust, marl and clay. This results in a long service life. Depending on the application, our chains are available in a sealed, low-maintenance design or in a standard design with increased joint clearance. The KÖBO product range also includes the relevant accessories, such as sprockets, buckets, support plates, scrapers, short and long cells with and without roller holders, as well as idler and guide rollers.

Steel and aluminium industry

KÖBO supplies effective chain solutions, in particular conveyor chains, to leading steel producers both at home and abroad. In addition to standard products, the company also supplies bespoke systems such as cooling bed chains, block turning chains, drawing belt chains, accumulation conveyor chains and wire transport chains. Accessories such as rollers and sprockets are manufactured in-house at KÖBO.

Steel Hydraulic Engineering and Locks

KÖBO’s maintenance-free chains with plain bearings do not require relubrication. This helps to reduce operating costs and meet strict environmental protection requirements. As a valued partner to, amongst others, regional associations, environmental agencies and waterway authorities across Europe, KÖBO has been entrusted with the refurbishment of weir systems for EDF and CNR in France, Rijkswaterstaat in the Netherlands, and locks in Germany, Austria and the UK.

Car wash industry

KÖBO is one of the leading original equipment manufacturers in the car wash system sector. This includes equipping car washes with drag chains. In this specialist field, continuous development and adaptation to the latest technologies are particularly important. In addition to conveyor chains, we also supply the necessary additional components, such as wheel drivers.

Offshore installations

KÖBO also manufactures conveyor chains and sprockets for demanding offshore applications, particularly for use in specialised pipe-laying systems within the offshore industry. Our chains are designed for the extreme conditions at sea and are characterised by the highest levels of reliability, strength and durability. They play a crucial role in the safe and efficient installation of pipelines and other infrastructure components in offshore operations.

Other uses

In addition to the applications described, KÖBO offers further bespoke solutions for almost all industrial sectors.

Our low-maintenance steel articulated chains, developed to meet the specific requirements of state-of-the-art production processes, demonstrate high wear resistance and impress with their low maintenance requirements. The permanent lubricating film ensures long relubrication intervals. This means that service life and operational reliability are increased.
